Joint Filler
Selection Guide
Metzger/McGuire
has a joint filler to accommodate almost any industrial floor
joint need.
The following guide will help you select the best filler for your
specific project.
SELECT FILLER ACCORDING TO
VEHICLE TYPE
MM-80
For Heavy Duty Floors
MM-80 is the
"only true heavy duty" filler on the market.
MM-80 should be used when "any" of the following
circumstances are present:
Floor is an ACI Class 6,7,8 & 9
Material handling vehicles have
wheels that are likely to cause joint edge
damage due to wheel hardness or small wheel
diameter.
- When vehicle
weight-plus-load capacity exceeds a total of
15,000 lbs. and non-pneumatic tires are
present. (See chart for specifics).
- When joints
are "armored" (steel angle,
shake-hardened edges, etc.)
Similar Fillers: While not a true equal, the most
comparable filler is Atochem's
"Flex Joint"
SPAL-PRO 2000
For Repairs
Spal-Pro 2000 is a two-part
polyurea polymer floor joint filler that cures rapidly to
a semi-rigid hardness like that of our MM-80 epoxy.
Like MM-80, Spal-Pro 2000 is rated "heavy duty" for the
most demanding floor installations.
Spal-Pro
2000 should be used in any of the above circumstances listed for
MM-80 when access time is critical.
EDGE-PRO XL
For "Moderate Duty" Floors
SPAL-PRO XL is
similar to MM-80 in almost all cured characteristics,
but may not have the same long term load carrying capacity as
MM-80.
"XL"
can be used for the following:
- Floor is an
ACI Class 5
- Vehicle-plus-load
weight is less than 15,000 lbs.
- Vehicles have
pneumatic tires.
Note:
"XL" should not be used in freezer or cooler rooms

SPAL-PRO RSF
For Below Freezing
Conditions
SPAL-PRO
RSF should be used for all joints in areas to be maintained at
temperatures below 32F, regardless of floor classification or
wheel/tire type.
Similar Fillers:
No true equal products; Price Bond #123 and Chemtron are closest.
SPAL-PRO 2000
For Very
Narrow Cracks
SPAL-PRO 2000
has a very thin viscosity and is appropriate for both heavy duty
and moderate duty floors.
Additional benefits include a 10 minute shave time and 15-30
minute traffic ready time.
Spal-Pro 2000
can be used to fill separation voids occurring with any other
semi-rigid joint filler.
