Quality floors are
rarely an accident, but are almost always the result of intense
effort, careful planning, communication, teamwork, and attention
to detail.
The Metzger/McGuire FIRMSŪ Consulting Service is composed of
three distinct but interrelated programs:
New Floor Design and Construction
The pursuit of a
quality floor must begin with all members of the owner /
designer / contractor / supplier team sharing a common
definition of the word "quality" and agreeing on
how the desired quality will be achieved. Metzger/McGuire
serves clients by participating in planning conferences,
evaluating proposed products and procedures, and assisting in
design/spec preparation. On-site inspections just prior to
occupancy and near the end of the warranty period verify that
the sought after quality has been obtained.
Construction Problem Intervention
Despite best efforts in planning and design, problems still
occur. The timely diagnosis of the defect and the right
corrective approach can determine the ultimate quality of the
floor. FIRMSŪ services for construction problem intervention
include inspection and investigation, coordination of
testing, repair specifications, soliciting and review of
repair cost estimates, and participation in dispute
resolution. Post-occupancy maintenance programs can be
developed when necessary.
Improvement of Existing Floors
The only sensible repair is one that is durable and performed
once, successfully. The FIRMSŪ service begins with an
inspection of the troubled floor. Defects are identified,
probable causes investigated. A detailed report is submitted
citing findings, concerns, priorities, recommendations on
repairs and practical strategies to minimize the effects of
proposed repairs on operations. Budget estimates, contractor
referrals, and recommendations for post-repair maintenance
can be provided.
